We’re planning a 100-day trip around the world, from November 2024 through March 2025.

Where in the world are we going? Well, after some false starts, we’re focusing on the antipode of Arizonaβ€”so places around the Indian Ocean that are hard to get to from here during a normal 2-ish week vacation (plus a few stops on the way to and from).

Here’s a general outline of the countries we’ll be visiting (click to open a custom Google Map):

The 22 countries we're visiting on this trip.

The two big itinerary highlights are 36 days in Africa (including a 24-day multi-country safari tour) and a couple of weeks campervanning around Australia.

With the exception of Jen’s 2015 visit to Australia, neither of us has been to any of these countries. Jen will reach her travel quest of visiting 100 countries1 before she turns 50, and Scott will meet his quest of visiting 50 before 50.

  1. There are a number of ways to “count countries” for a quest. For the purposes of these specific quests, we are both using the list of “countries” as defined by the Travelers Century Club, which includes some additional geographically or culturally distinct territories. After we meet these milestones, we’ll shift to counting only UN-designated countries. In the end, Jen hopes to visit every UN country in the world (with Scott in tow for nearly all of them). ↩︎
